Devlog #1: And so it begins...


Welcome

Hi guys,  welcome to the first Devlog for this (hopefully soon to be) fun game. I'm a bit new to 3D so I'm taking this opportunity to work on this as a way to get better at understanding 3D games.

What's this?

This is a first person wave based survival shooter. It's still in very (very...) early development. I'm hoping to release it by the end of the year.

What's currently done?

At the moment we have:

  • Movement and Aiming;
  • Shooting;
  • Recoil Pattern;
  • Two enemy types, one faster than the other (names not final)
    • Crawler: slowly moves towards you;
    • Jumper: moves quicker than crawler, hops towards your location;
  • Two control schemes: keyboard+mouse and gamepad

What's next?

Well, for starters I need to clean up the code, it's not organized. This will only get more and more dangerous as time goes on, so I'll be working on that. Maybe add in semi auto and burst fire as I move the shooting code into it's own Gun class. Then afterwards I'll work on the main menu, storing highscores, and a bit of polishing, no game feel, just extra effects.
